At the IDEB Defence and Security 2023 trade fair on Tuesday, October 3, three Slovak arms companies, EVPÚ a. s., DefTech a. s. and KONŠTRUKTA – Defence a. s., signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the production of a new, exclusively Slovak combat vehicle.
The new combat vehicle will consist of parts from their own development. In the case of EVPÚ a. s. from Nová Dubnica, it is the Glaudius 12 remote-controlled weapon station, which has been serving as a superstructure for vehicles in the Czech army since 2021. In the case of the new Slovak combat vehicle, it will be mounted on a 4×4 chassis supplied by DefTech a. s. from Vlkanova.
The project will be covered and adapted for the needs of the Slovak army by the state armament company KONŠTRUKTA-Defence, a. s. Dubnica nad Váhom.
KONŠTRUKTA-Defence, a. s. will also develop a new type of mortar, which will be a part of this vehicle.
“As for every Slovak manufacturer, it is a great challenge for us to participate in the development and production of a Slovak defence industry product,” said Michal Pavlík, CEO of EVPÚ a. s.
This memorandum also demonstrates the mutual interest of these companies to cooperate in the development in areas related to the development, production, presentation and sale of defence industry products.
“We at EVPÚ see the signing of the memorandum as the start of cooperation that will take us one step further in the field of development and production of weapon stations,” added M. Pavlík.
