ELECTRONICS FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT VEHICLES
Nowadays, using 3-phase traction drives belongs to worldwide trends in electric traction. The main advantage of these drives is the use of 3-phase asynchronous motors, that are easier to produce, more reliable in running and need no service. About 40-50% of power can be saved by the use of 3-phase drives. Used three-phase drives are recuperative with an integrated electrodynamic brake.
The control system of a tramcar excercises control over drives through a CAN interface. It is also possible to drive a tramcar from a back stand, to articulate up to three tramcars and to control them from one stand. There are several back-up regime levels in the traction drive system, that enable an emergency run of a tramcar in case of a failure of a traction group, control system or some other parts of electrical equipment. The electrical equipment is placed in containers at the place of original containers.Though the electrical equipment was made for tramcars T3, it can be used also in other types of tramcars after an adjustment.
